Starting and stopping the system is done in a manner similar to the old interface, except that the command to issue is SwitchMode. If you issue the old command than a reminder message will tell you what to do.
The command usage is also similar, except that there is a test facility for code development on the DN10Ks:
DN10k usage: SwitchMode stop | online [test] | offline [test] | kill Motorola usage: SwitchMode stop | online | rerope online [ | offline ]
Though it isn't reflected in the usage string, you may also start up the RopeServer in test mode on the front-end with:
SwitchMode online [test] | rerope online [test] [ | offline [test] ]
Note that the SwitchMode script calls a process named startup with the correct command-line arguments; that is, a '-' sign is put in front of each argument. The startup process uses a configuration file named startup_mode.dat in /user/orocont/DAT. This ascii file specifies the node name, the process name, whether to use an X-window, the window name and the window geometry for all processes that we might wish to start up on any motorola node at the pit.
